October Art Classes

PK students used stencils and white chalk to create spooky ghosts.

Kindergarten students used primary colors (red, blue, and yellow)
to paint these beautiful pumpkins.

Second Graders added texture to their leaf designs.

Fifth Graders are making masks
using cardboard scraps and other found materials.

Eighth Graders have been looking at abstract painting and the work of artist Georgia O'Keeffe.
They each found a natural object which they enlarged and abstracted to create their painting,
using acrylic paint on canvas board.

Early Childhood Music Wk. of October 18

We have been having fun with all sorts of fall themes in music class: apples, pumpkins, falling leaves and Halloween.  The children have also been introduced to the string family of the orchestra.  They had fun listening and moving to Autumn from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.

Physical Education

Surfing anyone!?
The goal with balance boards is to keep the
sides off the ground for as long as possible.
Students go from simply walking on the balance beam to the added challenge of
having to bend over and pick up leaves while keeping their feet on the beam.
Students challenge each other to step over the
dowel while keeping their balance on the blocks.
Just walking while balancing a bean bag on your
head isn't challenging enough. Lets add some steps!
Egg and Spoon
Students challenge themselves by walking with blocks.
After walking a distance, they are asked to add another block to their stack.
Birds of a feather, balance together :)
Hip-pity Hops
Volleyball skills start with tracking an object with your eyes as well as
hand eye coordination. Which equals BALLOONS!
Rolling the ball under while using your non-dominant hand.

Toss and catch over the net.

Tracking challenges with hoops...... pretty hard!
Simple, small sided, lead up game which allows students to pass 3 times,
get the ball over the net, and act out a rotation.
While the BIG kids get to play!!!
